I have a hookeye knife sharpener grinder that I have restored. It runs well but I have an issue keeping the belt running straight. The belt moves to the right side of the pulley from the front & rubs on the side front guide. The smaller front pulley that runs on the spindle has lots of play. The brass sleeve that is between the pulley & spindle is loose in the pulley centre. There appears to be wear on the outer edges of the sleeve causing the loose fit. I tried inserting brass shim stock between the pulley & the sleeve but it doesn’t last, after a bit of sharpening the belt shifts to the right again. Are there replacement parts available or is there a better way to shim the sleeve in the pulley centre? Would epoxy be useful as a surface facing material on the sleeve? Please advise.
